    Case examples

One such case focuses on eliminating discrimination against the promotion of women to high ranks in the Punjab prisons. We sought to bring about policy reform through the case and to increase awareness about promotion discrimination in government institutions.

Another case we took up was focused on obtaining a declaration from the higher courts on the fact that marital domestic violence is a crime and not a family matter.

We are also working with the National Commission for Human Rights to ensure that the discrimination against sanitary workers from minority religions, particularly religions, is immediately ceased.

  • Amicus Curiae cases

    Case examples

One of our recent appointments was in a case where the newly enacted Punjab Enforcement of Women’s Right to Property Act 2021 was challenged on the basis that it is unconstitutional. We worked tirelessly to interpret the law harmoniously and to advise in a manner to preserve it. Consequently, we highlighted the importance of providing women with a forum to address their grievances related to property and inheritance.

She-her has also successfully provided legal expertise to the court in the case involving the development of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project that directly affected the fundamental rights of farmers to life and property guaranteed by the Constitution.
